The technology

Screening shouldn’t leave you behind.

Standard screening works for many women, but not all. If you have dense breast tissue, cancer and dense tissue both appear white on a mammogram, and what looks the same gets missed. And if you are under 40, standard screening guidelines have not started yet. BeSound offers access to automated breast ultrasound, or ABUS, an FDA-approved technology that images the entire breast in 3D to find what a mammogram alone can miss.

Beyond handheld

Not the ultrasound you’ve had before.

How ABUS sees

One scan. The whole picture.

Whole-breast 3D

It captures everything, automatically

Instead of a sonographer steering a wand by hand, a soft transducer sweeps the entire breast on its own, hundreds of images in a single pass, and assembles them into one standardized 3D volume.

The coronal view

A view a mammogram can't show

From that volume, ABUS reconstructs a coronal plane, a top-down view through the breast, where small, invasive cancers that hide in dense tissue stand out. It’s a big reason ABUS detects 35.7% more cancers than mammography alone, a result confirmed in the 2025 BRAID trial.

Standardized & reproducible

The same, every single time

Because the scan is automated, your results are reproducible year over year: easy to compare against priors, and consistent no matter who runs the exam.

The blind spot

A mammogram can’t always see through density.

On a mammogram, dense tissue and a tumor can look the same: both show up white. That overlap can camouflage a cancer for years. It’s why nearly 1 in 2 women aged 40–74 have dense breasts,03 and why 40% of cancers in dense breasts are missed by mammography alone.

And because routine mammograms typically don’t begin until 40, younger women can fall through the gap entirely.

Why early matters

Catching it early changes the odds.

Dense tissue can hide cancers that ABUS is designed to surface, and finding them sooner means less aggressive treatment and fewer unnecessary procedures. And the exam itself is easy: about 20 minutes, no radiation, no compression, no contrast dye.

In their words

Loved by the women who’ve had it.

In a patient-experience study, 100% of women said they’d recommend an ABUS exam to their best friend.

It was completely painless, comfortable, and fast. The appointment only took about fifteen minutes.
Diana, ABUS patient
I knew I had dense tissue. Requesting this made the whole journey easier, and it was totally pain-free.
Jill, ABUS patient
I felt peace of mind knowing there was no radiation. My cancer was detected early, and I could start treatment right away.
